A Satelles delegation attended the Iridium Partner Conference in San Diego September 16-18, 2019. With more than 600 people in attendance at the conference, Satellite Time and Location (STL) from Satelles was one of the featured topics that produced these highlights:

  • Iridium’s top executives showcased their partnership with Satelles and promoted the capabilities of STL from the main stage of the event. Their emphasis was on helping Iridium employees and partners understand their customers’ need for assured positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT). The tie-in to Iridium, of course, is that the secure STL signal is delivered via Iridium’s low-Earth-orbit (LEO) constellation, meaning that the Satelles solution is independent of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and other global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).
  • Many of Iridium’s partners in attendance heard about Satelles for the first time, either in the conference sessions, at the Iridium booth in the exhibit area, or in one-to-one conversations with Satelles team members. Conference participants learned about the increasing market demand for assured PNT due to the expanding requirements of commercial organizations and government entities across a range of critical infrastructure, IoT, and cybersecurity applications.
  • Iridium’s partner ecosystem is diverse (e.g., service providers, value-added retailers, value-added manufacturers, value-added developers, et al.), but each was drawn to Satelles by the common need to overcome GPS/GNSS vulnerabilities and a newfound understanding of Satellite Time and Location as a way to augment, complement, and back up GPS/GNSS. Value-added manufacturers also discovered how Satelles works hand in hand with satellite receiver companies to incorporate STL signal support into their equipment, thereby bringing the benefits of Satellite Time and Location to customers around the world.

The Satelles team members who appeared at IPC 2019 are grateful to the entire team from Iridium for hosting an event that was informative, productive, and fun. We look forward to participating again in 2020.
