Technical Project Manager (Redwood City, CA or Reston, VA)

Job Title:  Technical Project Manager

Location: Redwood City, CA (as a second option VA office)

Job summary:

Looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager with a background working with Engineering/Product teams. In this role, the TPM will help develop and maintain technology project and/or product plans, outlining tasks, milestone dates, status, and allocation of resources to stakeholders and other interested parties. This experienced TPM will contribute by leveraging hands-on project management experience, technical expertise, along with excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Focused on technology supporting commercial and government customers, we develop, manufacture and deliver solutions for global time and location that is completely independent from GPS, and is available today. Originating from the Iridium® constellation of 66 low-earth-orbiting satellites, Satellite Time and Location (STL) is 1000 times stronger than GPS, reaching deep into buildings and penetrating GPS jamming without the aid of local infrastructure.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for taking inputs from external and internal teams to turn project statements of work and/or internal visions of new products into tangible tasks and communicating those to the technical team.
  • Familiar with agile philosophies and management concepts to support successful navigation of technical engineering programs.
  • Experience creating processes from scratch as well as running/adapting existing hardware and/or software programs.
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams on roadmaps, estimation and planning in a consistent, organized and disciplined manner.
  • Understands stages of development and where to develop an understanding of integration points for HW/SW.
  • Able to lead across functions and anticipate impacts to other areas across the organization.
  • Ability to proactively problem solve across functional dependencies with consideration of resourcing, technical barriers, time constraints, and risk.
  • Facilitate key technical and project planning sessions with engineering staff.
  • Key Performance Indicators:
    • Successful technical project management (on-time, within budget)

Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • Up in the Sky, Down in the Weeds – Ability to think at a high strategic level but still get down to the nitty gritty details with technical and business teams
  • Communication & Organization – Excellent communication in all forms (verbal, written, phone) and strong organizational skills
  • Leadership – Inspires teams, helps to diagnose and help teams work through issues to optimize full potential
  • Fast Paced & High Volume – Ability to work in a fast-paced startup, high volume work environment with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong Tool Knowledge – JIRA/Confluence; Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge – Word, Excel, Outlook, Etc; Google Products – Drive, Sheets, Etc. Programming languages are helpful but not mandatory.
  • Project Planning Abilities – such as agile, scheduling, budgeting, road mapping, proposals
  • Self-Starter – Dependable and can work independently under minimal supervision

Related Experience and Education:

  • Strong experience as a TPM in a previous role.
  • Ability to run cross-functional and distributed teams.
  • Ability to put in place processes, tools, and structure for programs and products.
  • Experience with Position Navigation and Timing, RF or network-based systems, GPS/GNSS and/or Iridium are big pluses.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical area like engineering, aerospace strongly preferred and/or equivalent experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess or be able to obtain Secret Clearance if needed.

  • Serve as the technical Lead for a efforts developing Satelles software products

Controller ( Reston, VA)

Satelles is seeking a hands-on Controller to manage its financial operations. Under the direction of the VP of Finance, the Controller will oversee for all aspects of the day-to-day accounting and month-end close processes, including journal entries, receivables, payables, and payroll, while ensuring accuracy and completeness. The ideal candidate has strong organizational, problem solving, and execution skills, with a team oriented attitude.  Successful applicants must have government contracting experience with some combination of a top undergraduate degree and/or CPA certification, and experience from a reputable accounting firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, implement, and enhance systems to further automate processes for efficiencies and effectiveness while maintaining internal controls and adhering to government regulatory compliance
  • Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures and issues
  • Monitor cash management activities
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure that A/P, A/R, and payroll are processed in a timely manner are paid in a timely manner
  • Perform Indirect rate process and variance analysis
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Perform monthly close process and issue monthly complete financial reports as well as annual financial reports
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management / monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget / provide recommendations for budget management and accounting procedural improvements
  • Develop pricing and pricing volumes for proposal submissions
  • Provide project cost reports to senior management and project managers
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Assist in regulatory reporting, including annual Incurred Cost Submission, Provisional Indirect Rate submission, and other applicable reporting requirements
  • Work with DCAA to process historical incurred cost audits, respond to rate variance claims and file necessary paperwork to finalize past years
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Main liaison for all external audits, Financial, GSA Schedules and etc.
  • Oversee fixed asset inventory, acquisition and disposal

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to be and previous experience as a hands-on contributing Controller
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager with a federal government contractor with DCAA and audit experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with Government contracting software such as Deltek GCS and Time and Expense , Deltek Costpoint and other accounting packages.
  • An excellent knowledge of US GAAP is required, combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are required
  • Strong applied knowledge of GAAP and FAR
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Expert level use of MS Office, including Excel
  • Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate relationships with staff members, management and fellow corporate staff
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field, preferred.

Director of Research and Development (GPS/PNT)

JOB TITLE: Director of Research and Development (GPS/PNT)

 

We are seeking a (GPS/PNT) Director Research & Development to join our growing team! The Director will lead a world-class Research and Development staff to develop breakthrough position, navigation, and timing (PNT) technologies, and will facilitate the migration of those technologies into the hands of our customers.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible primarily for the research, development, architecture hands-on development, integration and evaluation of GPS/PNT platforms.
  • Provide project-based resource estimates to support internal R&D efforts as well as contract bids and proposals.
  • Facilitate the migration/transition of newly developed technologies to the Operations organization, with the goal of delivering high quality solutions for our customers and ensuring business scalability.
  • Responsible for achieving the goals and objectives of the R&D organization and reporting status to executive management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years professional experience in systems architecture, engineering, and product development
  • Experience with DoD or aerospace systems is required
  • Ability to work independently within a fast–paced, cutting edge technology team
  • Strong background in control systems, navigation systems and synchronization as well as strong understanding of practical system performance limitations
  • Work directly stakeholders to develop PNT test plans and roadmaps as well as identification and development of capabilities needed to evaluate PNT system
  • Experience with positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) engineering and analysis
  • Experience with global positioning system (GPS) receiver engineering
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Strong relationship building skills to gain credibility of leaders within PNT research and development team.
  • Ability to lead technical meetings with customers, project management, production liaisons, and leadership
  • Extensive experience with application software, embedded software, firmware, and hardware.
  • Natural leader and team player – with proven ability to work constructively and efficiently within cross-functional teams to achieve the goals of the business.
  • Master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) with 10+ years’ experience in the PNT algorithm development and analysis, and/or experience with GPS
  • 5-10 years of R&D-related work experience

JOB TITLE: Program Manager

We are seeking a Program Manager to join our growing team! The Program Manager will be responsible for overall program execution; including proposals, cost estimating, and analysis. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans and monitors program budget and serves as primary customer contact for program information.
