Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Embedded Software Developer for Software Definable Radio systems)

Job Opportunity Summary

Satelles is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to join the team developing state-of-the-art user equipment for the company’s satellite-based position, navigation, and timing (PNT) solutions. The selected candidate will design, develop, modify, enhance and implement real-time firmware for digital signal processing on ARM and DSP platforms.

This position is ideal for a hands-on embedded software engineer who is seeking an opportunity to develop new systems based on a unique and patented space-based technology.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with an internal development team and with commercial partners to implement the company’s flagship Satellite Time and Location (STL) solution on new platforms

  • Codes, tests, and debugs new firmware and makes enhancements to existing firmware
  • Codes and performs unit and integration testing of firmware to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements
  • Collaborates with internal customers and technical peers to solve complex software problems
  • Influences system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for future enhancements
  • Follows established configuration/change control processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Strong ability to develop, implement, and troubleshoot advanced real-time digital signal processing solutons on embedded systems platforms with ARM and DSP processor components.
  • Demonstrated competency with embedded software development environment and tools for real-time embedded operating systems (RTOS), such as VxWorks
  • Demonstrated understanding of embedded system architectures
  • Experience with digital radio systems such as GPS/GNSS or software definable radios
  • Key DSP techniques include code correlation, FFT, and phase-locked-loops
  • Ability to debug both sides of the Hardware/CPU interface, using C/C++, to optimize performance
  • Familiarity with common RF/HW/FW/SW tools such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, Chipscope, GDB etc.
  • Other important skills for this position include simulation and debugging with Matlab/Octave and C++, and the ability to develop in a Linux environment
  • Ability to work seamlessly within a team as well as manage individual tasks
  • Proven ability to work independently; designing, developing and deploying solutions, and delivering projects on time with minimal direction
  • Ability to listen and evaluate all opinions without bias, and contribute to a common culture of excellence
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to government contract.

Technologies and Tools

  • ARM, DSP, C++, RTOS, Linux development environment
  • Skills with Matlab/Octave, Python, verification or test automation tools are a plus
  • Experience with RF/hardware design and debugging is a plus

Education and Work Experience

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, with 10+ years of related work experience.

Technical Project Manager/Product Owner (Redwood City, CA or Reston, VA)

Technical Project Manager/Product Owner

As a Technical Project Manager you will have the responsibility for planning and providing technical management for interrelated software and/or system development projects. This position requires a strong system and software development background and a “hands-on” approach to team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain project plans including tracking contractual milestones, tracking budget, estimating effort, and report progress to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a Product Owner representing product stakeholders
  • Routinely work directly with external customers representing our products and services
  • Develop and own the product backlog
  • Perform Requirement analysis
  • Define and develop engineering documents
  • Contribute to our culture of continuous improvement by supporting implementation and improvement of project management processes

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years professional experience within system engineering and/or object oriented software design and development
  • Must possess a strong understanding of the agile process and the role of a product owner
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering (Aerospace, Computer, Electrical or Systems) or equivalent experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen

IT System Administrator (Reston, VA)

IT System Administrator, Location: Reston, VA

Job Opportunity Summary

Satelles is seeking an IT System Administrator to join our team who is developing state-of-the-art user equipment for the company’s satellite-based position, navigation, and timing (PNT) solutions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • S/MIME certificate administration: issue certificates, instruct users on installation of certificates, and the use of signed/encrypted email.
  • New accounts and groups set up, password management, application management, creation/management of distribution lists (group aliases).
  • Slack administration: Create and delete Slack users and invites, manage channel security.
  • Video conference administration: instruct users on the use of tools and applications (e.g Zoom) on mobile devices, computers and conference room A/V equipment.
  • General IT-related purchasing tasks (Amazon Business account, Dell, others as directed and approved)
  • IT Hardware: ability to spec computer configurations and order them for (new) users. Keep inventory of computers on hand for shipment to new users, and restock as needed.
  • Shipping administration: ability to create UPS shipping labels to ship equipment where needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Tier one administration knowledge and skills
  • OS/application administration: have working knowledge of Windows, Mac OSX and Linux operating systems and common applications the run on them, especially email clients and web browsers.
  • People Skills: social skills to talk with people with skills varying from high technical skills to no technical skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of GSuite, Slack, Zoom and other similar tools
  • Working knowledge of Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Helpdesk Portal)
