FedTech Article “Defense Department Moves to Augment GPS with Alternatives”

In May 2018, FedTech published “Defense Department Moves to Augment GPS with Alternatives” calling out Satelles as a possibly technology to work in tandem with GPS serving as a backup.  The Pentagon is ramping up its A-PNT efforts and is assessing established and emerging technologies for augmenting GPS.   Satelles is mentioned in the article by Todd Humphreys, a professor at the University of Texas at Austin: “New technology that leverages low-earth-orbiting Iridium satellites shows promise.  After Satelles appropriated the satellites and modified the communications signals they broadcast to deliver secure position and timing services, the decade-long effort is getting some good traction.” Click here for full article
